What a fun afternoon with a very special group of gals! We enjoyed a tour and lunch at the Olive Mill in Queen Creek. $5.00 for the tour and plenty of time to enjoy a great lunch and taste and smell all the different Olive oils, olives, tampenades, etc. It was such a treat. I learned today how important it is to use the extra virgin olive oil to get all the heart benefits...it's worth the extra money you may be paying. Olive oil made in the Queen creek area is all pesticide free. Arizona does not have to deal with the same pest problems that other olive mills deal with...harvesting a couple months out of the year, October through December. Locally it is sold at Whole Foods and AJ's. Some favorite oils we tasted today included: Mexican Lime, Vanilla Bean, Garlic Parmesan, Lemon and White Wine Basalmic. I purchased a few olive oils and some Asiago olives. Many samples are available, so you know what you are buying. Fun place to experience.
